Film project for young people

Plaza Community Cinema has announced details of their latest Film and creative media project for young people aged 13-19 years during the summer.

In partnership with Cottonfield Films the cinema is able to offer full training in all aspects of film production.

Read on if you would like to develop and star in a narrative drama themed on the triad of pressures experienced by young people

  • Peer pressure
  • Parental pressure
  • Pressure from school

There will be a chance to work with the following creative freelancers who will assist you to produce your own film:

  • Filmmaker – training in all aspects of film production
  • Musician – chance to record live and digital music to create a musical soundtrack
  • Drama coach – workshops to enhance your performance and tips on how to inhabit a different ‘character’
  • Make-up artist – tuition in applying theatrical make-up and creation of prosthetics
  • Set designer – insights into creating 2D and 3D imagery and environments for film locations
  • Graphic designer – introduction to post production special effects, colour grading and creation of an animated title sequence

Once completed the finished film will receive a premiere screening at the Plaza Community Cinema, with the chance to take part in a Q/A with the audience.

The project will run for the whole of August:

Mon-Thurs (5th-8th) 10am – 3pm

Mon-Thurs (12th-15th) 10am – 3pm

Mon-Thurs (19th-22nd) 10am – 3pm

Tues–Fri (27th-30th) 10am – 3pm

There will be a further week of post-production workshops during the October half term holiday.
