Help with Blue Badge applications and renewals at the Atkinson Friday 7 July
Alzheimer’s Society Sefton have teamed up with Sefton Council’s customer services department to raise awareness to residents who meet the criteria to qualify for a Blue Badge.
A monthly event will be held at the Atkinson, Lord Street In Southport, on the first Friday of each month, with the first event taking place on Friday 7th July 2023 from 10am to 1pm, then 2pm to 4pm.
If you know anyone who is thinking of applying for a blue badge or is struggling with an application or renewal, please do spread the word. No need to book, people can simply turn up on the day.
In addition, Elaine, one of our Dementia Advisers will be there to give dementia information and support.

Hi, can you advise me whether this event is going to be held again? I need assistance to claim a new badge (first application) for my mum with Alzheimers. If it is not going to be run again, do you have contact information so I can go direct for some assistance?
The blue badge information sessions will be held on the first Friday of the month, so the next one is on 4 August, 10am to 4pm at the Atkinson. The drop in is for blue badge enquiries and information for anyone, not just those with dementia. Given the time taken to complete an application form, this will not be done on the day, but they will book an appointment to complete the form at a later date if required. Blue badge team at Sefton Council can be contacted via the main telephone no: 0345 140 0845 or by e-mailing bluebadge@sefton.gov.uk
Best wishes,
Healthwatch Sefton.

On the Sefton Council blue badge webpage, link shown below:
blue-badge-applications
it states that ‘waiting times for applications made under the automatic criteria, providing that all required evidence, photograph and fee are included, may take up to 28 days. If the application is “subject to further assessment” then this may take considerably longer and up to 12 weeks in some cases, depending on the level of assessment required.
(Please do not contact us until after 42 days for automatic applications and 12 weeks for those subject to further assessment).’
