ITV News spotlights Aintree’s A&E and Major Trauma teams

July 31, 2018

Aintree University Hospital recently gave ITV News unprecedented access to the hospital to support a film being made by ITV’s national editor, Allegra Stratton.

The two-part film, which aired in July, looked at the incredible work of all staff working in Aintree’s A&E and Major Trauma teams who are treating an increasing number of patients who have been stabbed.  Latest figures show a 16% increase in knife crime.

The rationale for granting this access was to illustrate to an audience of millions the effect a single knife wound can have and the work taking place, with our partner organisations, to reduce the number of young people becoming involved in knife crime.
