New health and care app platform for Cheshire and Merseyside
Health and care apps can be used to help manage and recover from a huge range of mental and physical health issues, but there are hundreds of thousands of health apps out there, and not all are safe – so where do you find trusted health apps? We now have the answer.
NHS Cheshire and Merseyside has built a Health App Library where you can find health apps which have been reviewed by the Organisation for the Review of Care and Health Applications (ORCHA) against 350+ criteria.
ORCHA has found that only one in five health apps manage data privacy securely, are easy to use and give safe health advice. Our library only contains health apps which are assessed and compliant, so we can be sure that the ones we use meet safety standards.
You can use this Health App Library whenever you want to find a health or care app to support you with your health and wellbeing. Health apps can help you:
- Get fitter
- Learn mindfulness or relaxation techniques
- Change your smoking or drinking habits.
- Gain healthy habits by helping you to create daily plans and track your progress
- Manage existing health conditions such as diabetes, asthma and injuries.
The library can be accessed at: Cheshire & Merseyside (orchahealth.com)

Why no Android version? Not everyone has Apple.
We have tested a couple of the apps in the app library, and they have been available to download for both Apple and Android platforms. If there is a particular question or concern about an app in this app library, the website advises to contact hello@orchahealth.com by email at any time.
