Quiet Hour at supermarket chain
Alzheimer’s Sefton is highlighting how Morrison’s supermarket stores have now introduced a ‘quieter hour’ for customers who would benefit from a more relaxed shopping experience.
A spokesperson for Alzheimer’s Sefton says: “The initiative was originally set up for people with autism but the store champion in Morrison’s, Southport, has said it is open to anyone who may get anxious while shopping including people with dementia.”
The quiet hour takes place every Saturday from 9am to 10am and at this time stores will:
Dim the lights
Turn music and radio off
Avoid making tannoy announcements
Reduce movement of trolleys and baskets
Turn checkout beeps and other electrical noises down
Place a poster outside to tell customers it’s Quiet Hour
