Service Users & Carers Group (Faculty of Health & Social Care, Edge Hill University)
The Service User and Carers Group was established to share good practice in the design, development and delivery of health and social care education and research. To facilitate this, the Faculty of Health & Social care has been involved in collaborative partnership with service users and carers – stakeholders in local community health care, to share knowledge and expertise; good practice; and ideas; positively contributing to health and social care education, training, and research, both in the Faculty and the local community.
There are many opportunities to become involved in the undergraduate programmes of nursing, operating department practitioners, paramedics etc in selection and recruitment of potential students, and in teaching, assessment and curricula design.
We also issue regular updates and promote upcoming events such as Open Days which may be of interest, although we must stress that attendance at these events would not attract payment. However attendance at certain activities such as interviews, teaching sessions etc would be eligible for payment.
It is anticipated the Group will meet twice yearly, usually June and December as an opportunity for everyone to get together.
The Service User & Carer Council(Faculty of Health & Social Care, Edge Hill University)

To facilitate this, the Faculty of Health & Social Care has been involved in collaborative partnership with service users and carers – stakeholders in local community health care. The role of ‘link’ person is designed to pair an individual with an academic area that is of particular interest to them and that would relate to other, external groups that individual is involved with to cascade information, hear their thoughts on the various courses run by the Faculty of Health & Social Care and broaden the scope of the group.
Attendance at such meetings attracts payment and there are many other opportunities to become involved in the undergraduate programmes of nursing, operating department practitioners, paramedics etc in selection and recruitment of potential students, and in teaching, assessment and curricula design. Attendance at, for example interviewing potential students, is also paid.
