Update on services at Litherland Town Hall Walk In centre and Impact on Phlebotomy Service (blood tests) from Monday 30th March
Information correct as of 13:30 Friday 27th March 2020
North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust have informed us that you can continue to access care from Litherland Town Hall Walk In Centre as normal and is open 8am – 8pm every day.
Update from North West Boroughs -Phlebotomy service (blood tests) from Monday 30th March.
Due to the significant pressures on all aspects of healthcare it is essential that we ensure resources are prioritised and directed to the areas of most need.
Therefore from Monday 30 March 2020 (until further notice) the South Sefton Phlebotomy (blood sampling) clinic service will be suspended at all locations except for the following pre-booked clinics. This means you must have an appointment to attend.
Maghull Health Centre, Westway, Maghull, L31 0DJ
Monday: 1.30 – 3.30pm
Tuesday: 8.30 – 10.30am
Wednesday: 8.30 – 10.30am
Thursday: 1.30 – 3.30pm
Friday: 1.30 – 3.30pm
The above clinics will be for urgent requests only. Urgent bloods are those determined by your GP or nurse as requiring priority.
In order to reduce the number of patients in the waiting area there will be no drop in clinic facility.
Any patients with a routine referral who have pre-booked appointment after Friday 27 March will be contacted by the service to cancel their appointments. These patients will be contacted again in due course (once we are able to resume the service for routine bloods). Please note if you have a form for routine bloods and try to drop-in, we will be not be able to see you.
We will continue to accept requests from GPs or nurses for patients requiring blood tests at home (unless this is for a routine test). We aim to see all these patients within one working day, however this may be subject to delay depending on available staff resources. We will no longer be taking routine blood tests at patients’ homes.
These are temporary measures to enable the redistribution of resources during this challenging time. If you have any queries in relation to your blood test, please contact your GP surgery or whoever referred you for your blood test.

Is RA (methotrexate) blood test considered routine? Cheers.
Hello, thanks for leaving your comment but unfortunately we cannot advise about that. You need to contact your GP who will be able to help. Thank you, The Healthwatch Sefton Team
