Nigel Bellamy – Interim Chairperson/ Organisational Director

Nigel recently retired from Sefton CVS where he worked for 32 years as Deputy CEO. He joined CVS following a career in the Civil Service and Trade Unions, leading on campaigns to improve and defend the Welfare Benefits system.

Nigel has maintained his connection with the voluntary and community sector and is Chair of Trustees at Parenting 2000 and Brighter Living Partnership as well as  being a trustee at HomeStart , Independence Initiative and Regenerus. Close contact with these groups give him a good understanding of many of the health and social care issues affecting on residents across the borough.

He is enjoying his extra leisure time by walking, reading and is keeping his mind stipulated though membership of Southport University Extension Society.

Simone Meme, Finance Manager at Sefton CVS

Simone joined the charity in October 2023 bringing along with her years of experience in the corporate world and voluntary sector.

She hails from the Beautiful by Nature, Turks and Caicos Islands, where she did most of her foundation learning before moving to England in September 2016. She completed a BSc (Hon) in Accounting with First Class honors in June 2019.  She went on to work with one of the North West’s biggest accounting firms, where she gained further practical and commercial awareness to serve in her field.

She finds peace in her faith and pleasure in cooking, cleaning, spending time with her partner, and walking a beautiful boy by the name of Bruce, an English Working Cocker Spaniel.

She looks forward to working with and supporting our local community.

Rachel Jones, Assistant Chief Executive at Sefton CVS

Rachel joined the team in 2021 and leads on performance, policy and delivery of our health focused projects.

Rachel brings with her a wealth of experience having held posts across the voluntary and public sectors with particular focus on; community engagement and involvement, mental health service delivery and strategy development.

Rachel is passionate about encouraging voluntary, community and faith sector activity to improve outcomes for people and communities.

Valerie worked in Community Development Regeneration for over 40 years, in Skelmersdale, Salford, Liverpool and London. Ten years was spent at Liverpool CVS providing advice, training, funding and constitution and charity registration.

Valerie was Administrator for the first Liverpool Common Purpose Programme and worked with Merseyside County Council on their Anti-Heroin Campaign.

She spent 12 years working in Social Housing with Cooperative Development Services and retired as Manager of the Community Engagement Team. After her early retirement, she joined a small housing association for young people with special needs and retired as CEO.

Valerie has been Director of the Plaza Community Cinema for 17 years and is an Observer of Sefton Council for Voluntary Services’ Health Watch Board.

Angela Keith

Angela is the Healthwatch Director for Equalities.

Born and raised locally, Angela’s career started as a Trainee Town Planner in what is now Sefton Council. she then moved into the Department of Work and Pensions, in various locations within North West Region and Headquarters, the last ten years as a Senior Manager.

Job roles generating a wide experience in a range of Managerial functions encompassing delivery of Social Security Benefits, Estates, Training Development, Design and Presentation, and Equality and Diversity Champion.

Since retirement Angela joined Healthwatch Sefton and was appointed as the Patient Experience Lead at Aintree Hospital and led the development and delivery of the Patient Participation Group in her G.P. Practice.

Angela enjoys reading, tailoring and gardening and lives with her partner in Thornton.


About our Structure

Healthwatch Sefton is registered as a ‘Company Limited by Guarantee’ and is a company of Sefton Council for Voluntary Service (Sefton CVS). Healthwatch Sefton has an independent structure consisting of a Board of Directors, a Steering Group which is representative of the community (both local networks and residents) and two Community Champion Networks which have been nationally recognised.

We are supported by a small staff team and a larger group of volunteers who support us with engagement (our Locality Representatives), represent us at key stakeholder meetings (our Ambassadors) and those who volunteer on our Enter and View team.
