Volunteer with us!

Do you live in Sefton and have an interest in speaking up on behalf of others? Is it important to you to make sure NHS health and care services work for everyone? We would like to share our exciting volunteer roles and want to hear from people who love talking with others in their community about using health and care services. We need to recruit 3 volunteers to join our team of Locality Representatives. There are  volunteer roles available for each of the following areas:

  • Formby
  • Hightown & Ince
  • Seaforth & Litherland

Our governance structure ensures that local people are involved in our decision-making process. The volunteer role of locality representative ensures that this happens and, as one of our volunteers, you will not only have the opportunity to use your skills and experience in community settings but have a seat on our operational steering group and be integral to the decisions we make. As a volunteer representing Healthwatch Sefton, you would be acting as a point of contact for residents living in your local area; letting Healthwatch Sefton know of any issues local residents have when using health and social care services; and supporting Healthwatch Sefton with engagement activities. Among other specific duties, volunteers are expected to attend steering group and community champion network meetings, promote Healthwatch Sefton’s aims and objectives, and help build effective relationships. Why did other locality representatives agree to volunteer with us: Anne Major volunteers as the Central Southport Locality Representative and explains why she decided to take up the role: “As a retired midwife, I am always reminded that without clients, patients, and families, my job would not have existed. This role enables me to support a pro-active organisation that understands health and social care through the eyes of patients and carers.” While Kevin Halewood, who represents Crosby on behalf of Healthwatch, adds: “I have a strong personal interest in health – particularly mental health – and wanted to give something back and hopefully be a voice for my local area. I was volunteering to deliver medication to the vulnerable and thought there was no better time to volunteer for Healthwatch and be of assistance to residents during and post Covid 19.” If you decide to apply for one of the roles, you will need to return a completed application form and equality and diversity monitoring form. The term of office for the role is three years. To download the forms  and supporting information, please click on the links below. Role of the Locality Representative. Application form Equality & Diversity Form Please return your completed application and equality and diversity form by 5pm on Saturday 31st October 2020 to info@healthwatchsefton.co.uk Applications received after this deadline will not be included in the assessment process. Given the current COVID-19 pandemic, we do not have dates planned for shortlisting and interviews but we will be in touch with all applicants following the deadline. If you would like to find out more about the role or would benefit from speaking to a member of the team, please phone us on 0800 206 1304 or use info@healthwatchsefton.co.uk Best wishes and stay safe, The Healthwatch Sefton team

Community Champion's Network

Healthwatch Sefton is all about building relationships with communities and local people. One of the main priorities is to continue to build Community Champion Networks; in Southport and Formby and South Sefton. These networks are made up of local organisations, groups and centres who work with local communities. With the help and commitment of the Community Champions Networks, Healthwatch Sefton is able to bring together the voices of local residents. The Community Champions raise the profile of Healthwatch Sefton and its aims, helping local residents to have their say in the design and delivery of health and social care services, both locally and nationally.
