Our Priorities
Over the coming year, Healthwatch Sefton will put local people and communities at the heart of everything we do. Our priorities will focus on listening to residents’ experiences of health and social care, understanding what works well and where people face barriers, and making sure those voices are heard by those who plan and deliver services.
We will work alongside community groups, voluntary organisations and neighbourhood partners to reach people from all backgrounds, especially those whose voices are often overlooked, and use what we hear to help improve services so they better meet the needs of Sefton’s communities.
Please look out for new reports in the reports section of our website throughout the year to gain updates on our progress
Some of our main priorities for 2026/27
- Calling on the Government to protect the independence of local voices in health and social care
- Putting people at the heart of Neighbourhood Care.
- What we found when we stepped inside (undertake Enter and View visits to care homes across Sefton to gain independent observations and feedback)
- Listening Events (we will visit hospital wards to speak to patients, family members, and carers to listen to what matters to people about their care)
- Assessment of patient experience for those who are cared for in corridors and ward areas in our local hospitals
- Fair and consistent GP access in every neighbourhood (choice in the way you contact your practice based on what is best for you)
- Barriers to dental care in Sefton (our ongoing review into dental access)
- A review of Sefton resident’s experiences in accessing treatment room services for wound care and suture removal.
- Understand residents views on the NHS App
- Strengthening and supporting our established Community Champion Networks
