National Autistic Society Parent Support Group-Sefton | Voluntary Group Chair
We provide support for carers of autistic children and adults aged 16 and over in the local area. We are open to carers whose children are in transition between Secondary schools and Further Education, etc. We provide support via regular meetings (currently held online) where members can discuss concerns or issues they’ve experienced in their role as carer. We also work with several other groups to raise our carers’ issues and experiences with the relevant local and national bodies, with the aim of improving the experiences of our carers and cared for.
We work closely with health professionals and the local authority to enhance what is available to families. The Group Chair will take a lead role in organising and facilitating group work. They will be assisted by another volunteer taking on admin work. The Chair will have a background in health and/or experience of supporting people with autism, have a willingness to drive forward the voice of carers and their cared for, whilst supporting the development of the NAS group in Sefton.
