Liverpool University Hospitals announce details of on-line Annual Members’ Meeting
|
This month, Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT) will celebrate its achievements from the past year at its virtual Annual Members’ Meeting (AMM). The event, which will take place on Thursday 10 November 2022 from 5.30pm – 7pm, will acknowledge the incredible dedication of the Trust’s staff, highlighting their ongoing hard work and ambition to provide outstanding healthcare to local communities. Members of the public are invited to attend the AMM, where senior leaders will look back at the last 12 months at LUHFT, which runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. Significant highlights include staff being recognised for their exceptional patient care, including two Queen’s honours, a number of national awards and involvement in crucial world-first research trials, including the COVID-19 booster. There have also been notable investments to enable the Trust to deliver better care for its patients, including developments of its estate, with a £16 million improvement project at Aintree University Hospital well underway, the introduction of day-case hip replacements to reduce waiting lists, and a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine to enable rapid cancer diagnoses. The AMM will also look towards the Trust’s future. The Trust recently completed the successful move to the new Royal Liverpool University Hospital as well as opening a new Hyper Acute Stroke Unit at Aintree University Hospital which is already making a significant difference in providing timely care to patients in the critical 72-hour period after a stroke occurs. A further five changes to bring together services at the Trust to reduce duplication and improve patient care are also underway. Sue Musson, Chair of LUHFT, said: “The Trust has been through a significant amount of change over the last twelve months. What has remained constant is our commitment to providing the people and communities we serve with the very best healthcare. Our staff have worked so hard to do this at an immensely challenging time. “The Annual Members’ Meeting is an opportunity to reflect on the work we have done over the last financial year and to look at our plans for the future.” James Sumner, Chief Executive of LUHFT, said: “What has struck me most in my first six months at LUHFT is how dedicated our staff are to doing their very best for patients, despite working in what can be very pressured and challenging circumstances. “I am extremely proud of our staff and what they have already achieved amongst significant organisational change. At this year’s Annual Members’ Meeting, I look forward to revisiting some of our highlights of the year, as well as looking ahead as we continue on our journey of helping to shape Liverpool’s physical, social, and economic health.” Details of how to become a Foundation Trust member are available at www.liverpoolft.nhs.uk. |
