April update from Galloway’s

April 7, 2021

Galloway’s is reassuring local people that while it continues to follow Government guidelines, it is planning its own roadmap to re-introduce face to face activity when the time is right and when it is safe to do so.

The charity says: “Your welfare is our priority and we will still continue our support, via welfare calls, group telephone activities and online Zoom sessions.”

Below is a brief summary of some of the support and advice available from Galloway’s.

Eye Clinic Liaison Officer (ECLO) Update

“If you are experiencing any issues with your vision, please contact your local opticians, as they are open and are available to book appointments, so give them a call.

“Routine eye clinic appointments are mostly back up and running again, but some may still be carried out over the phone or via video.

“Also, it is common for you to attend in person, have your vision checked, have scans, etc. and then go home and await a call regarding the results.

“Cataract surgeries still seem to be delayed, if you are worried about this and your vision is getting worse, contact one of us.

“Similarly, if you have had appointments cancelled/delayed and you feel that your vision has deteriorated, please get in contact.

“Patient Transport is running via NW Ambulance Service, so if you have an upcoming hospital appointment and require transport give them a call on 0800 032 3240 – usually they ask to call two to three days before your appointment.

“If you have any concerns about your vision or hospital appointments, please contact one of us and we will discuss support.”

Low Vision service

“If you require a low vision assessment, please speak with one of our Sight Loss Advisors first, for them to check your eligibility.  The team is working through referrals as quickly and safely as possible. We thank you for your patience.

“You can call our Penwortham head office on 01772 744148 and you will be put through to one of our sight loss advisors.”
