Do you have any feedback on….. the current pilot scheme for ordering repeat medicines?

As you are aware, our role at Healthwatch Sefton is to ensure that local decision makers and health and social care services put the experiences of people at the heart of their work. By asking people about their experiences and asking for feedback, issues can be addressed, which will make services better.

Everything we say and do is informed by our connections to local people, our sole focus being to understand the needs, experiences and concerns of people of all ages who use services and to speak out on their behalf.

With the NHS Southport and Formby Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and NHS South Sefton CCG pilot scheme for ordering repeat medicines across Sefton ending in February 2017, Healthwatch Sefton is gathering feedback on how local people are finding this new system. Residents across the borough are leaving feedback on our new online feedback system www.healthwatchsefton.co.uk.

NHS Southport and Formby CCG and NHS South Sefton CCG launched the pilot scheme on 1 September 2016 as part of their medicines waste campaign. The pilot scheme has been in place since 1 September 2016 and will end 28 February 2017. The pilot stops pharmacies from being able to order repeat prescriptions from 19 GP practices on behalf of patients. The aim of the pilot is to improve medicines safety and reduce the cost of wasted medications, estimated to cost the local NHS at least £2 million each year. The 19 GP practices are:
