Health and social care committee needs new public members to get involved
The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) are looking for members of the public to join their NIHR committees. As a public committee member you will need to have a broad interest in and knowledge of health, social care and/or actions to improve public health and address health and care inequalities.
You don’t need to have a scientific or academic background to help shape research. We are looking for members of the public from all backgrounds who are able to use their own experiences to improve the research we wish to fund.
We are particularly looking for people with lived experience and/or a good understanding of patient and public involvement in research. This could include experience in reviewing applications, working with researchers, being part of a research study, or serving on committees or advisory groups.
Public committee members will read and review funding proposals and provide a written summary of their reflections. We offer a fee to acknowledge their valuable time and input.
If you know anyone who might be interested, please pass this opportunity along. Their insights and lived experiences can help shape research that matters to them and improve health and care services.

Please note the deadline for expressing interest is 27 February 2026.
