The Walton Centre is ‘Outstanding’ for a second time
The Walton Centre has been given the highest rating for a second time by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The CQC conducted announced and unannounced inspections in March and April 2019 and published their report on Monday (19th). This time a team of inspectors visited the Trust to assess surgery and critical care services, and to inspect whether the Trust was ‘well-led’ overall.
Chief Executive, Hayley Citrine, said: “We are delighted with the latest rating from the CQC today. Staff used their visit as an opportunity to share with them the high standard of care they provide for patients and their families on a daily basis.
“The report details our outstanding quality of care, a high level of innovation and use of cutting edge technology. Not only that, the CQC noted that: ‘candour, openness, honesty and transparency were the norm’ and that a high level of support for staff health and wellbeing contributed greatly to this. Our close work with neighbouring organisations was also highlighted, describing an open culture, building the right conditions for collaboration across the local health economy.
“Last year we launched our new strategy which aims to deliver Excellence in Neuroscience, to enhance the patient and family experience and shape treatments for the future. The latest rating indicates we are making good progress on our strategy and confirms the fantastic work staff are undertaking.”
