Grief Opera in Liverpool: A Powerful Musical Journey Through Loss, Love, and Hope
Life can be incredibly difficult, and grief—especially after losing a loved one to suicide—can feel overwhelming and isolating. But music has a unique ability to reach places words alone cannot. Grief Opera is a deeply moving musical experience that explores loss, healing, and the enduring power of love.
The Story Behind Grief Opera
After the devastating loss of his son George to suicide, Nigel Linacre began writing as a way to process his grief. What started as a personal expression of loss evolved into something much larger. Collaborating with acclaimed jazz pianist Vladimir Miller, Nigel helped create Grief Opera—a heartfelt performance that resonates with anyone who has experienced loss.
This original production blends spoken word, operatic performance, and contemporary music to tell a story that is both deeply personal and universally relatable.
A Cast Connected by Real Experience
Grief Opera features an extraordinary lineup of performers, including international tenor Neil Latchman and rock singer Keri Farish. They are joined by Nigel Linacre, Vladimir Miller, and a unique ensemble of performers who have all experienced loss themselves.
The production also includes the Sing Their Name Choir, bringing an added layer of authenticity and emotional depth to the performance.
