News from Alzheimer’s Society Sefton

April 14, 2021

Alzheimer’s Society Sefton has useful information for people who are living with dementia and for those who care for them. See below for important updates.

Alzheimer’s Society have produced a discussion paper looking at personalised care and the quality and reform of social care for people affected by dementia. Click here to see the full report if you would like to know more.

Two new factsheets and booklets have been added to their selection of informative guides. The two new additions cover such common concerns for many people and will provide additional information to support people. Download the pdf versions from the two choices below.

  1. Understanding denial and lack of insight
  2. Understanding sleep problems, night time disturbance and dementia

Alzheimer’s Society Sefon Information Team has also produced a range of helpsheets giving a more condensed version of some of our most popular factsheets. The helpsheets are just one page long and can be used for people living with dementia if they are likely to struggle with a much longer booklet or for people who may need more simplified or quick reference information. Click here for the full list and how to print or order.

A Carer Information and Support Programme (CrISP) which runs sessions until May 10 has just started. It is a free, online programme and attendees must be non-professional carers, looking after a person with dementia in Sefton.

CrISP is very popular and is an excellent way to get lots of information about dementia as well as meet others in a similar situation. Although it may not be possible to join this latest programme, people are encouraged to let Alzheimer’s Society Sefton know to be added to the list for future programmes.
