Residents living near to Aintree University Hospital are being invited to special engagement sessions to discuss proposals to build an on-site helicopter landing pad.

Currently, major trauma patients carried by the Air Ambulance have to be landed at playing fields off Lower Lane, about a mile from the hospital, and are then transferred to the hospital’s Emergency Department by ambulance.

CEO Steve Warburton said: “Providing a purpose-built landing pad in front of our Urgent Care and Trauma Centre will save vital time for these most seriously injured of patients.

“We want to make sure that local residents have their chance to give us their views, so we are holding these additional engagement sessions before making any planning application.”

Residents living near to the front of the hospital, on Lower Lane, where the landing pad would be situated, have been sent invites to the sessions.

If other members of the public wish to attend the sessions then they should contact helicopter@aintree.nhs.uk.
