Upcoming young onset dementia awareness day at Central Library Liverpool

Dementia is all about old people isn’t it? No, it isn’t.
Although dementia is an age-related condition, there are about 72,000 people under 65 with young onset dementia in the UK. Services are often geared to older people so younger people with the condition can struggle to find appropriate support.
To improve understanding, Dementia Liverpool is holding a Young Onset Dementia Awareness Day at Liverpool Central Library on 7 May 2026, between 10.00-4.00pm.
This free drop -in event will include:
- expert talks about young onset dementia and why the experience is different from having the condition in older age;
- a wide range of stalls providing information about local support and daily living assistance;
- advice on legal, employment and financial matters;
- conversations with younger people with dementia and their carers about how it has affected their lives; and
- opportunities to become a ‘Dementia Friend’ who can do their own bit for raising awareness –
To attend, book online at youngonsetdementialiverpool.eventbrite.com
This event is open to anyone with any interest in finding out more about young onset dementia – people with a diagnosis, or worried that something might be wrong, families and friends, people working in a public-facing business or service; teachers and educators; health and social care professionals and the general public.
